Thrum Mitt kits have all the materials necessary, including the pattern, to make these wonderfully warm and soft mitts.  They are a big hit with anyone wanting to keep their hands warm on a cold wintry day.  Yarns and rovings in this kit are a blend of 80% alpaca and 20% fine merino wool.

The idea for these mitts allegedly originated with the Newfoundland women.  Apparently, they would use sheep wool bits and knit them into mitts for their fishermen husband’s mitts.  This would keep them warm and cozy on cold days out on the ocean.
